The Emirates Air Line Cable Car
Emirates Air Line is a gondola lift system over the River Thames in London, connecting the Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks. This expensive infrastructure project was made with sponsorship from the airline Emirates. The cable car was opened before the Summer Olympics in 2012. Emirate Air Line is about one kilometre long and connects the O2 Arena and the exhibition centre ExCeL. The maximum capacity is 2500 passengers per hour in each direction. The fare is about 4.5 pounds. When using Oyster cards, the fare is cheaper.
Nearby you can visit the small museum of the airline Emirates. There you can find out more about achievements in the air transportations, as well as try yourself as a pilot on the simulators. North Greenwich and Royal Victoria are underground stations located nearby.
